GATE 2027 CSE syllabus released: IIT Madras has officially released GATE CS revised syllabus on its official website gate2027.iitm.ac.in. With official GATE 2027 exam dates announced, the authorities have also revised the GATE syllabus. This year, IITM have changed the syllabus of three core technical subjects in CSE. GATE 2027 Revised CSE Syllabus

For a major pool of students, who are preparing for GATE 2027 CSE, they must note that three core technical subjects have been updated: Digital Logic, Computer Organisation and Architecture (COA), and Computer Networks (CN). Here is a list of changes made in GATE syllabus 2027:

Digital Logic Syllabus

The updated GATE CSE syllabus includes circuit minimisation methods. Candidates must practice Karnaugh maps and tabular techniques for preparation. Other topics include: Design of combinational and sequential circuits. Number representation and arithmetic (fixed and floating point).Β

Q: Β  Can we give GATE exam two times in a year?
A: 

No, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering examination takes place once a year. Every year, different IITs and IISc conduct exam on rotational basis. GATE is conducted online for three hours for 30 branch papers. 

Q: Β  What is the GATE registration last date?
A: 

GATE 2027 application form will be released on August 14, 2026. The last date to apply with no late fee is September 21, and with late fee is September 30.

Q: Β  What are the benefits of qualifying GATE exam?

Qualifying GATE offers the following benefits to the students -

  • Admission to the master's programmes in top institutes like IITs, NITs, IIITs, etc. 
  • Jobs at PSUs like AAI, NHAI, GRID-India, ONGC, BHEL, etc. with high salary and perks
  • Stipend of INR 12,400 monthly to adjust expenses.
  • Research fellowships at top government organisations. 

For computer organisation, the syllabus is split into two distinct design sections: hardwired design and microprogammed design. The updated GATE 2027 CSE syllabus also include cache memory mapping concepts. To balance these extra topics, direct mentions of main and secondary storage have been removed, helping students only focus on essential CPU hardware mechanics.Β 

Major Changes in Computer Network (CN)

The Computer Networks section saw the most significant eductions this year. To help students save valuable study time, many topics have been deleted from the syllabus. Topics like OSI model stack, Basics of IP support protocols (ARP, DHCP, ICMP) have been removed. In addition, application layer is slashed to cover only DNS and HTTP.

What GATE 2027 Aspirants Must Do Next?

All the other major subjects, including algorithms, programming and data structures, Operating system, DBMS, and theory of computation, remain completely unchanged from last year. Candidates must stop studying the dropped topics in GATE 2027 syllabus and master COA cache mapping and digital logic circuit design to build strong concept to score good in the exam.
