Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT Delhi) has launched a new B.Tech programme in Computer Science and Economics with intake capacity of 20 seats. For the fourth consecutive year there will be ho fee hike for any of the undergraduate or post graduate courses offered by the institute.

IIIT Delhi Director Prof Ranjan Bose has said the institute has launched several programmes this year which include a B.Tech in Computer Science and Economics, joint M.Tech degree and PG Diploma programme. He termed new courses as “essential for solving real-world technology and policy challenges.”

While replying to question by Shiksha on seats in these courses for Delhi-NCR students, he said that admissions have begun through JEE (Main), with 85 per cent of seats reserved for Delhi-NCR students.

“Students will learn to analyse economic systems and design digital solutions through computing. It’s a course that bridges technology and finance,” Prof Bose said.

While replying to a question by Shiksha, IIIT Delhi Dean said the 20 seats added this year are for the newly launched B.Tech in Computer Science and Economics. The Dean also confirmed that the institute has not increased tuition fees for the past four years, with the next review expected in February 2026. “Despite adding new courses and facilities, we have maintained the same fee structure,” the Dean said.

The institute has also launched a Postgraduate Diploma and a minor in Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), focusing on human-centred design. In addition, IIIT Delhi has started a joint M.Tech programme with Université Côte d’Azur, France, enabling three students from each side to study at the partner university with reciprocal scholarships.

The announcements coincided with IIIT Delhi’s 14th Convocation, where 780 graduates received degrees across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. Dr Anand Deshpande, Founder and Chairman of Persistent Systems, delivered the convocation address, while Lieutenant Governor and Chancellor Vinai Kumar Saxena and Prof Rajesh Srivastava, Chairman of the Board of Governors, commended the institute’s achievements in research and interdisciplinary learning.

Presenting the Director’s Report 2024–25, Prof Bose said, “We teach our students to treat challenges as opportunities—to think differently, learn from mistakes, and realise their full potential.”
