The 12-week course, โ€˜An Introduction to Artificial Intelligenceโ€™, will be conducted from January 23 to April 14, 2023. 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has invited applications for a free 12-week online course, โ€˜An Introduction to Artificial Intelligenceโ€™, which prepares a student to take a variety of focused, advanced courses in various subfields of AI.  

The course is free to enrol and learn from, but if one wants a certificate, he/she has to register by paying a fee of INR 1000 and clear an exam which is scheduled to be held on April 29, 2023. It will be conducted from January 23 to April 14, 2023, and the last date to enrol is January 30, 2023.  
The course will be conducted by professor Mausam, Associate Professor of Computer Science department at IIT Delhi, and an affiliate faculty member at University of Washington, Seattle. 

The topics that will be covered in the course are mentioned below.

  • Philosophy of artificial intelligence and definitions.  
  • Modeling a problem as search problem, and uninformed search. 
  • Heuristic search, and domain relaxations. 
  • Local search, and genetic algorithms. 
  • Adversarial search. 
  • Constraint satisfaction. 
  • Propositional logic and satisfiability. 
  • Uncertainty in artificial intelligence, and Bayesian networks. 
  • Bayesian networks learning and inference, and decision theory. 
  • Markov decision processes. 
  • Reinforcement learning. 
  • Introduction to deep learning and deep reinforcement learning. 

Who can apply?

Anyone with a knowledge on data structures and probability can take up the course. It will be most beneficial for undergraduate students pursuing computer science in computer science and engineering, artificial intelligence, data science and robotics.
