IIT Gandhinagar to organise national-level squash tournament
IIT Gandhinagar, in collaboration with the Squash Rackets Federation of India and All Gujarat Squash Racquet Association, is all set to organise the first-ever national-level squash tournament.
Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar has collaborated with the Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI) and All Gujarat Squash Racquet Association to organise the first-ever national-level squash tournament “IIT Gandhinagar Squash Open” from August 17-21.
The five-day national circuit tournament is expected to bring together about 250 squash professionals and enthusiasts from 20 states at the newly built sports complex of the institute.
IIT Gandhinagar Squash Open will contribute directly to the National Squash Ranking List, and participating players will get national ranking points based on their performance. The tournament will follow a knockout format followed by play-offs between the top eight players, as reported by The Live Ahmedabad.
The top three winners will get trophies and other players who reach the playoffs will get prize money. Moreover, there will be merit and a certificate of participation for all the participants.
The sports complex of IIT Gandhinagar houses three glass backcourts for squash with wooden floors, which are built as per World Squash Federation guidelines. The institute also organised a month-long Squash Coaching Camp during May and June 2022 this year, which was led by an SRFI-certified coach from Delhi.
IIT Gandhinagar to host workshop on X:Ray Crystallography and Determination of Molecular Structure
The engineering institute is also organising a seven-day workshop on X:Ray Crystallography and Determination of Molecular Structure from August 22 to August 28, 2022. The last date to register for the same is August 12, 2022. The shortlisted candidates would be intimated by email latest by August 16, 2022.
Eligibility criteria to apply for this workshop is a minimum of post-graduate (Science) or B Tech (Technology). Also, professors, scientists, post-doctoral fellows, PhD fellows, and industry persons who are actively involved in R&D can apply but no more than two participants from an institute.
