IIT Goa surprises students, asks them to prepare own question paper
Normally, the teacher prepares questions and the students answer them, but IIT Goa has come out with something different. In a novel approach to evaluate students, the institute asked its students of ‘analog circuit’ course to prepare questions from lecture material by themselves and then answer those.
Out of the total 70-mark ‘analog circuit’ question paper, 30 marks were for preparing the questions and 40 marks for giving the answers to the questions the students had prepared. The question paper mentioned that the questions set by the students should reflect their understanding of the course. The engineering institute had also asked its students to not discuss questions with friends, failing which they might lose marks.
Netizens find question paper innovative
A screenshot of the question paper has been doing the rounds on the Internet triggering mixed reactions from social media users. While many lauded the institute for conducting exam in such a way, others have opposed it. A user wrote, “What a prof. at #IITGoa did is very innovative. Unless one knows the subject well, it is difficult to frame a questions. This will definitely test the understanding of the student in a subject.” Another wrote, “The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Goa, sets an innovative question paper. It might sound stupid at first sight but it’s actually very insightful.” Here are some of the reactions to this unique question paper:
