IIT Hyderabad Launches Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme; Classes Begin on August 3

IIT Hyderabad has launched three-month Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme. Classes will begin on August 3 to train professionals in nuclear energy sector.

IIT Hyderabad Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme

IITH Programme: Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad has announced launch of Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme (NTOP). The institute said this programme aims to prepare skilled professionals for nuclear energy sector. This is a three-month residential programme that will begin on August 3, 2026, at IIT Hyderabad campus. It will provide engineers and professionals with practical and theoretical knowledge of nuclear power technologies and operations. This programme is open to

• Early and mid career engineers

• Managers from Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) companies

• Engineering consultants

• Professionals working in power sector

• Executives from Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) involved in energy and infrastructure projects

What will Programme Cover?

NTOP curriculum combines classroom learning with industry-focused training. Participants will study several important areas of nuclear technology like

• Basics of nuclear engineering

• Reactor physics and reactor engineering

• Radiation shielding

• Nuclear safety

• Nuclear waste management

• Thermal hydraulics

Participants will receive training from IIT Hyderabad faculty members as well as experienced scientists and engineers from organisations under Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). IIT Hyderabad said this industry academia collaboration will provide them with both academic knowledge and practical insights into nuclear power operations. IIT Hyderabad Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme will commence on August 3, 2026. It will run for three months in residential format.
