IIT Jodhpur, NHAI join hands for betterment of highway infrastructure

IIT Jodhpur and NHAI have signed a pact for the betterment of the highway infrastructure.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur and National Highway Authority of India has come together and signed a pact to share their expertise for the betterment of the highway infrastructure. The signing ceremony was held at the IIT campus in the presence of IIT Jodhpur Director Santanu Chaudhury and Ajay Bishnoi, GM (Tech) and Project Director, NHAI, Project Implementation Unit (PIU) Jodhpur.
"As a part of this MoU, NHAI and IIT Jodhpur will work together in various domains, including transportation engineering, structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydraulics engineering, infrastructure systems, earthquake engineering, urban and rural planning and disaster mitigation and management with an objective of sharing," Mr Chaudhury said.

The MoU will also facilitate undergraduate and postgraduate students of IIT Jodhpur to undertake fully paid internships in the above domains.

The joint activities will facilitate bridging the industry-institution gap and develop technologies that could be adopted in practice by NHAI.

The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur) is one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, in 2008. The Institute conducts its academic activities through 11 Departments. IIT Jodhpur offers various specialisations under BTech, MTech, MSc, MBA and PhD courses.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur is ranked 50^th nationally in the Engineering category by NIRF in 2019 ranking.

Recently, the IIT Jodhpur has announced a new course, BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science from 2020-21. The BTech course in AI and Data Science will include topics on computer science, mathematics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and their applications in various domains.
