IIT KGP Celebrates 71st Convocation, Awards Degrees to 3,731 Students

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur held its 71st convocation. A total of 3,731 students at IIT KGP were conferred undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Prestigious honours, including President’s Gold Medal, Prime Minister’s Gold Medal, and several other awards, were conferred upon outstanding graduating students and scholars.

Former ISRO Chairman S. Somanath served as the chief guest at the event, which was also attended by Anand Deshpande, Founder and Chairperson of Persistent Systems, and Anuradha Acharya, CEO of Mapmygenome.

This year, IIT Kharagpur awarded a total of 3,731 degrees across a diverse range of disciplines. These included 277 PhDs, 18 MS, 956 M.Tech, 50 Master of City Planning (MCP), 142 MBA, 23 Executive MBA, 58 Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA), 5 Master in Medical Science and Technology (MMST), 28 Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM), 18 Master of Architecture (M.Arch), 47 LLM, 31 LLB, 786 Dual Degrees, 614 B.Tech (Hons), 46 B.Arch (Hons), 151 Four-Year B.S., 260 Five-Year M.Sc., 214 Two-Year M.Sc., 3 M.Sc.-M.Tech., 3 Three-Year M.Sc., and 1 Certificate of Excellence in Research (CER). Additionally, 25 Distinguished Alumnus Awards were presented to IIT Kharagpur alumni in recognition of their exceptional contributions to science, academia, education, research, and societal development.
