One-Year PG Diploma in UAV Operations and Drone Technology

Indian Institute of Technology Ropar has signed Memorandum of Understanding with Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University to offer one-year Post Graduate Diploma (PG Diploma) programme in UAV Operations and Drone Technology. This aims to prepare skilled professionals for drone and aviation sectors. The MoU was signed by Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar, and Prof. Bhrigu Nath Singh, Vice Chancellor of RGNAU, in presence of faculty members and officials from both institutions.

Programme to Be Conducted Across Two Campuses

As part of joint programme, students will spend their first semester at RGNAU and complete  second semester at IIT Ropar. The course will provide a balanced mix of classroom learning and practical training in drone technology and UAV operations. The curriculum have drone systems, flight operations, navigation, sensing technologies, autonomous systems and real-world applications of drones.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rajeev Ahuja said that collaboration would create new opportunities for research, innovation, and skill development in drone technology. He highlighted growing importance of UAVs across sectors such as agriculture, logistics, infrastructure monitoring, disaster management, and defence.
