IITH announces setting up of Saroj Sharma Memorial Award for Research Excellence
The award will be given annually to a female BTech student (especially third or fourth year) from any stream of study who has published at least one peer-reviewed international journal paper.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has announced the “Saroj Sharma Memorial Award for Research Excellence for female UG students”. The award is instituted by Prof Chandra Shekhar Sharma, Chemical Engineering, for a female undergraduate student of IIT Hyderabad in the memory of his late mother.
As per the institute, the award will be given annually to a female BTech student (especially third or fourth year) from any stream of study who has published at least one peer-reviewed international journal paper. In case of multiple entries, a duly constituted committee shall decide the winner, the institute said.
Award to be given away on IITH’s Foundation Day every year
The chosen awardee will be given a cash prize of INR 25,000. In addition, Prof Chandra has also offered to mentor the student to create a career in research. The award will be given to the selected student on the institute’s foundation day every year for 10 years.
