The aim of the programme is to provide world-class integrated circuit design and manufacturing specialists trained in the concepts and techniques of fabless chip design and manufacturing. 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has launched BTech in electrical engineering programme with a focus on IC (integrated circuit) design and technology.  The aim of the programme is to provide world-class IC design and manufacturing specialists trained in the concepts and techniques of fabless chip design and manufacturing.  

IIT Hyderabad plans to offer semester-long industry internships  

Interested candidates can apply for the course at ee.iith.ac.in. In the first two years of the programme, students will be provided with fundamentals in electrical engineering and students will delve deep into IC design or IC manufacturing for the next two years. In order to help students meet market demands, the programme also plans to offer summer and semester-long industry internships. 

Students will get to learn not only from IIT Hyderabad faculty but they will also get practical experience from people in the global industry and academic institutes in the field. The options of Honors and Minors are also available for this course. The student has to complete an additional 12 credits to earn them. 

IIT Hyderabad Director BS Murty said, “The course t is in line with India’s mission to not only become a global player but a leader in semiconductor design and product development.” 

The institute had recently launched a three-year Master of Science (MSc) programme in medical physics. The programme has been introduced in collaboration with Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (BIACH&RI). It requires the students to complete a total of 90 credits across three years, consisting of two years of course work (66 credits) and one-year (24 credits) of mandatory medical physics and clinical internship after successful completion of course work and declaration of course results.
