The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has withdrawn the datasheet it had released for UG and PG year-end exams earlier.

The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), had announced the date sheet for various undergraduate and postgraduate exams on June 2, however, it was withdrawn by the University on the same day.

The University had removed the date sheet after it faced strong criticism from students for announcing the dates of offline examination during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. As per the proposed exam schedule IP University released, exams were to start as early as June 20.

“The proposed draft tentative date sheet uploaded today for conduct of exams in June/July July 2020 stands withdrawn immediately,” the official notification released by varsity stated. The proposed examination was to be held in two shifts, morning and afternoon, with each one of two-hours duration.

On June 2, the University had announced that it will be conducting the end-term exams of BA, B Tech, BBA, and LLB and other subjects and all exams in offline mode from June 22 to July 14. As per the withdrawn date sheet, the end-semester examination for Bachelor of Arts (BA), was to commence from June 22 and that for LLB (Bachelor of Law), from July 1, while that for BA LLB July 3.

“The revised plan of examination schedule shall be uploaded in due course of time with a reasonable sufficient timeline,” the notification stated.

The students also raised concerns about their safety during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic if they appear for the exam. Some of the students also questioned the validity of the examination as the Union Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ and the higher education regulator, University Grants Commission (UGC) proposed that the university examination of final students can be conducted as soon as it becomes “feasible” to do so.
