JEE Advanced 2015: Exam pattern changes
JEE Advanced 2015 Paper-1 got over at 12 pm today, May 24, 2015. Shiksha.com reporters spoke to students at Ground Zero and found out that the marking scheme and test pattern for JEE Advanced exam this year was very different from previous year.

Sharvi, a student of DPS Noida shared that, “In JEE Advanced 2014, the maximum marks a candidate could secure in Paper 1 was 180 and same was the case in Paper-2. However, this year Paper-1 of JEE Advanced was of 264 marks”.
Students also shared that the number of multiple choice questions asked in JEE Advanced 2015 was more than in 2014.
Further, it was revealed that for the first time in JEE Advanced exam the negative marking for an exam section was increased. The marking scheme for Section 2 of JEE Advanced 2015 Paper-1 was such that for every correct answer, aspirants would be awarded ‘+4’ marks whereas ‘-2’ would be deducted if they select the wrong option. However, no mark would be added or subtracted from the total score of the candidate if he/she did not select any answer.
The detailed marking scheme for Paper-1 of JEE Advanced 2015 as explained on exam paper is as mentioned below:
- Section 1 contains 8 questions. The answer to each question is a single digit integer ranging from 0-9 (both inclusive).
Marking scheme: +4 for correct answer and 0 in all other cases.
- Section 2 contains 10 multiple choice questions with one or more than one correct option.
Marking scheme: +4 for correct answer, 0 if not attempted and -2 in all other cases.
- Section 3 contains 2 “match the following” type questions and you will have to match entries in Column I with the entries in Column II.
Marking scheme: for each entry in Column I – +2 for correct answer, 0 if not attempted and -1 in all other cases.
JEE Advanced 2015 results will be declared on June 18. And the online filling of choices through joint seat allocation process will commence on June 25. Check JEE Advanced 2015 important dates here!
