The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the JEE Main 2026 application form anytime now. Interested candidates can complete the JEE Main registration 2026 on the website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. All aspirants must check the JEE Main eligibility criteria to avoid rejection of the application forms. Fulfilling the eligibility requirements enables a candidate to apply for the national-level Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains.

JEE Main 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, candidates should check whether they meet the eligibility criteria prescribed by NTA.

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent in 2024 or 2025 from a recognised board.
  • Students appearing in Class 12 in 2026 are also eligible.

Subjects Required:

Applicants must have studied Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of Chemistry, Biology, or Biotechnology.

Age Limit:

There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main 2026. 

Number of Attempts:

A candidate can appear in both sessions (January and April), and the best score will be considered for ranking. Moreover, one can apply for the JEE Mains exam for three consecutive years after passing their qualifying examination.

JEE Main 2026 Registration Starts Soon

NTA has asked candidates to ensure documents like Aadhar card, category certificate and the UDID card are updated before registration begins. Moreover, the agency has confirmed the introduction of the Aadhaar-based auto-fill system this year to simplify the process and reduce errors.

The JEE Main exam serves as the gateway for admission to top engineering institutes, including NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. It is also a qualifying test for the JEE Advanced exam, which is held for IIT admissions. The JEE Main 2026 exam date is January 21 to 30 (Session 1) and April 1 to 10 (Session 2).
