JEE Main 2026 April Attempt Registrations Anytime Soon; Know These Major Changes
The session 2 registration process for JEE Mains 2026 exam will start anytime soon. The candidates who will register for the first time must check some of the new rules of the JEE Main application process to avoid any confusion.
The National Testing Agency will soon start the JEE Main 2026 April attempt registrations. The session 2 application process will be made active anytime soon on the official website - jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE Mains session 2 registration window is expected to remain open until the last week of February 2026, as per prevision year's timeline. The session 2 exams will be held between April 2 and 9.

The candidates who have appeared for the JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam do not have to apply for the session 2 registration from scratch. These candidates have to login with their JEE Mains 2026 session 1 application number and password. Thereafter, they can change the paper or select the paper to appear in session 2 and select the exam centre to appear in the exam. The registration fee has to be paid to complete the registration process.
On the other hand, candidates appearing for the first time in JEE Mains have to register, fill the online form, upload a live photo, upload the documents needed and pay the application fees.
JEE Main 2026 April Registration Date
Although NTA has not announced an exact date yet, going by past trends, the registration process is likely to begin shortly on the official website - jeemain.nta.nic.in. Students are advised to keep checking the official website regularly for updates to avoid missing the deadline.
As per the past trends, the most likely date for JEE Main session 2 registration to start is January 31.

Major Changes Introduced This Year in JEE Mains 2026 Application Process
This year, NTA has made a few important changes in the JEE Main application process. The major changes are:
- Requirement of the class 11 registration number: The candidates who are appearing for the JEE Mains exam in 2026 have to provide their class 11 registration number. However, the students who have passed the class 12 exams do not have to provide this detail.

Aadhaar / DigiLocker Authentication: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has made the facility to use the DigiLocker app/Aadhaar during JEE Main registration 2026. Although it is not mandatory for all candidates, those who can use the DigiLocker can make use of the facility to upload certificates during the JEE Main application process.
- Live Photo Capture: The candidate will have to upload their live photograph at the time of filling the application form. For capturing a live photograph, candidates have to switch on their camera or connect their webcam to the device used for filling out the NTA JEE application form.
Students should keep their documents ready, including Aadhaar details, academic information, scanned photographs, and signatures. Regularly check the official website - jeemain.nta.nic.in and nta.ac.in, for updates on NTA JEE Main session 2 registration.
NTA has conducted the JEE Main 2026 session 2 exam on January 21, 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29. As per the official NTA data, across the 10 shifts, 13,00,368 candidates have appeared out of the 13,50,969 candidates scheduled to appear.
