The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the JEE Mains 2026 session 1 result. The result has revealed 12 candidates scoring a perfect 100 percentiles. However, in the past four years, this is the lowest number of candidates securing a perfect score in the NTA JEE Mains first attempt exam. Check the detailed report below.
12 candidates have secured 100 percentile in the JEE Mains 2026 first attempt exam, the result for which was declared on February 16. Many students and experts reviewed the JEE Mains 2026 session 1 exam as the toughest in recent times, and the results have backed this claim. The JEE Mains result 2026 shows that the number of candidates achieving a 100 percentile has decreased over the past four years.
For session 1 in particular, in 2022, there were 14 candidates scoring a perfect 100 percentile. In 2023, 20 candidates got 100 percentile, in 2024, there were 23 students, and in 2025, there were 14 perfect scorers. In 2026, the number of 100 percentilers is 12. This indicates that the exam difficulty level has risen over the past years, and so has the competition in JEE Main exam.

How is 100 Percentile In JEE Mains Related To The Difficulty Level?
The 100 percentile in JEE Main is inversely related to the paper's difficulty. A tougher paper requires lower raw marks (roughly 250 to 270) to achieve 100 percentile, while an easier paper requires higher marks (nearly 290 to 300). The percentile score shows the relative performance of the candidates. In each shift, the top scorer gets 100 percentile.
In a tougher paper, the best performing candidate will naturally score low, but will still get 100 percentile. This is how the difficulty level of JEE Mains is related to the number of 100 percentile students.
