JEE Main 2026: National Testing Agency has released subject-specific guidelines for JEE Main 2026 as session 1 exam begins tomorrow. Candidates appearing for JEE Mains have been advised to go through instructions related to their chosen paper and subject combination to ensure smooth exam process. The JEE Main 2026 subject-wise guidelines have been provided below. These are also aligned with instructions mentioned in information bulletin of JEE Main 2026.Â
JEE Main 2026 session 1 will be held on January 21, 22, 23, and 24. The first shift for paper 1 BE/BTech) will begin at 9 AM and will continue till 12 noon. The second shift for paper 1 will commence at 3 PM and will continue till 6 PM. Candidates must download their JEE Main admit card 2026 from official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.Â
JEE Main 2026 Subject Specific Instructions for Physics, Chemistry and MathematicsÂ
Before starting with exam, candidates must be aware of important JEE Main 2026 guidelines released by NTA and has also been provided hereÂ
Section A (Maximum Marks: 80)

- This section has 20 questions for each subject
- Each question has four options. Only one of these four options is the most appropriate or best answer, which will be considered correct answer
- Candidates are advised to do calculations with the constants given, if any in question
- The answer to each question will be evaluated as per JEE Main 2026 marking schemeÂ
JEE Main Section B (Maximum Marks: 20)

- There will be 5 questions from each subject that must be attempted
- This section have questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value
- Candidates must do calculations with constants given in the questions. The answer should be rounded off to nearest integer
- For each question, enter correct integer value of the answer using mouse and onscreen virtual numeric keypad in designated place to enter answer
- In this section, too, marking scheme (provided below) will be followed.Â
JEE Main 2026 Aptitude TestÂ
- In this section, there will be 50 questions.
- Each question has four options. Only one of them will be the correct answer.Â
JEE Main 2026 Drawing Test (Maximum Marks: 100)
Those appearing for JEE Main BArch paper must go through these guidelinesÂ
- There will be two questions from this sectionÂ
- Each question carries equal marks, and both have to be attempted
- The questions must be attempted in space provided for them in drawing sheet. No supplementary drawing sheets will be given.
- All candidates must carry material for drawings and graphics work like pencils, color pencils, crayons, eraser and geometry box.Â
- Watercolour/poster colour/acrylic colours are not allowed and should not be carried in exam hall.Â
- Candidates must do neat and clean drawings
- They must submit drawing sheet to invigilator before leaving exam hall
- Candidates must not write roll number, name, centre address, place or exam or make any special sign in any part of test booklet.
JEE Main 2026 Planning Based Objective Type QuestionsÂ

- There will be 25 questionsÂ
- Each question has four options and only one of them will be correctÂ
- There may be some questions that are given to assess thinking skills in English, so those will be in English only in every language set

NTA has announced the JEE Main 2026 exam date for session 2. JEE Main 2026 session 2 exam will be held from April 2, 2026, to April 9, 2026. JEE Main 2026 session 2 registration will start in the last week of January 2026. The JEE Main Application Form 2026 session 2 will be available on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE 2026 session 1 exam will be conducted from Jan 21, 2026, to Jan 30, 2026.
JEE Main city intimation slip 2026 for session 1 was released on January 8 at jeemain.nta.nic.in. JEE Mains City slip have details about the JEE Main exam city in which the candidate is allotted the centre to appear in the exam and the date of exam. It helps candidates to plan their travel to the JEE Main exam centre in advance. JEE Main city intimation slip is different from the admit card.
