JoSAA 2026 75% Criteria Row Intensifies; Students Ask IITR to Extend July 15 Marks Submission Deadline
The decision by IIT Roorkee, the organising institute of JEE Advanced 2026, to provide relief to Class 12 students falling short of the 75% eligibility criterion has triggered fresh demands from aspirants amidst the JoSAA 2026 counselling process.
Recently, IIT Roorkee clarified that candidates whose Class 12 marks are below the required 75% aggregate can still participate in JoSAA 2026 counselling. However, such candidates must submit a revised marksheet showing that they have achieved the required eligibility criteria byΒ July 15, 2026.

While the announcement was welcomed by many students awaiting re-evaluation or improvement examination results, concerns have now emerged regarding the practicality of the deadline. Several aspirants have taken to social media platforms claiming that the results of improvement examinations and board re-evaluation processes may not be declared before July 15.
According to students, the timeline leaves little room for those who are dependent on revised scores to secure admission through JoSAA counselling. Many candidates have urged IIT Roorkee and the Joint Admission Board (JAB) to consider extending the deadline for submission of revised marksheets to avoid loss of a year for students due to delays beyond their control.
Students Cite Delayed Re- Evaluation Results, Seek More Time
Aspirants have argued that board authorities often take several weeks to process re-evaluation requests and declare improvement examination results. As a result, students who are confident of meeting the 75% requirement after score revision fear losing admission opportunities if the updated marksheets are released after July 15.
Social media discussions indicate that many candidates are requesting authorities to align the deadline with the actual declaration of revised board results. Some have suggested that the cut-off date be extended by a few weeks to accommodate genuine cases, especially those affected by the CBSE OSM row.
The relaxation should be extended until August as many student issues are unlikely to be resolved within the current timeline due to the large number of pending cases.

Parents and Students Demand Relaxation of 75% Eligibility Criteria
Apart from seeking an extension of the revised marksheet submission deadline, a section of students is also demanding a temporary relaxation of the 75% eligibility criterion for the 2026 admission cycle.Β Students have linked their demand to concerns surrounding the CBSE OSM-related controversy and other alleged discrepancies reported during the board examination process this year. They argue that exceptional circumstances require a one-time relaxation similar to measures adopted during previous extraordinary situations.
Iit please you too do not do injustice ππ to students,we have lot of expectations from you plzz give atleast 5%relaxation this year

As cbse and other will require much more time than 15 july , please
Do not waste thousands of future π@PMOIndia @dpradhanbjp @iitroorkee
As of now, IIT Roorkee and the Joint Admission Board have not announced any changes to the July 15 deadline or the 75% eligibility requirement. Candidates are advised to continue monitoring official JoSAA and JEE Advanced notifications for any updates regarding admissions and eligibility rules.
