The exam body, Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), will soon announce the KCET Round 2 counselling dates. Recently, they declared the KCET 2025 Round 1 seat allotment result on August 6, 2025. We can state this based on previous year trends, as KEA typically allows 3 to 5 days for students to confirm, modify, or surrender their allotted seats in Round 1, suggesting that the KCET 2025 Round 2 counselling registration can commence between August 12 and August 14, 2025 or before. The Round 2 counselling is crucial for candidates aiming for better colleges or courses based on their ranks and preferences.

The KCET Round 2 counselling registration process will consist of fresh option entry and modifications, followed by the Round 2 seat allotment result, expected in the last week of August 18–20, 2025.

As of now, KEA has not officially released the Round 2 schedule. However, students are advised to keep visiting the official website kea.kar.nic.in as well as shiksha.com for real-time updates and notifications.

Before this, they declared the KCET 2025 Round 1 final Seat Allotment Result on August 2, 2025. Candidates who registered for the counselling could check their allotment status by visiting the official website.

About the KCET exam

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test in short known as KCET, is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the Karnataka Education Authority (KEA) every year to shortlist candidates for various undergraduate (UG) courses in engineering, agriculture, pharmacy, veterinary sciences, B.Sc (Nursing), BPT, BPO, and other allied health sciences domains. Candidates who qualify in the entrance exam can therefore join the courses.

Q: Β  How is seat allotment done in KCET counselling?
A:

Karnataka Examinations Authority conducts the KCET counselling in online mode. Applicants have to complete the choice filling and locking after a successful registration. Candidates have to fill preferred choices of colleges and courses at the time of choice filling of KCET counselling 2025. KEA allots seats during the counselling process as per the choices filled by the candidates. After mock allotment, candidates are given chance to change their choice preference. After seat allotment results of KCET, candidates will be provided three options of freeze float and side. 

Q: Β  How many rounds of KCET counselling will be held?
A:

KCET UGCET counseling is generally conducted in three grounds. KEA will first release the KCET mock seat allotment result after the conclusion of the choice-filling process. The first two grounds of KCET 2024 counseling will be conducted for birth general merit and Hyderabad Karnataka region candidates. However round 3 or round 2 extended will be conducted as per the availability of seats. Candidates have to complete the KCET counseling registration as per the schedule. Only successfully registered candidates will be allowed to participate in the KCET 2025 extended round counseling.  

Q: Β  I am not interested in the seat offered during KCET counselling. Can I still participate in further seat allotment rounds without accepting
A:

Yes, you can still participate in the KCET counselling further grounds even if they are allotted seats. Applicants allotted seats can opt for float or sliding option from the login. If you want to get a seat in the same college but a different course then you can choose the slides option. However, if applicants is looking for upgradation in the college allotted then they must float option. If candidates choose freeze option after seat allotment then there is no provisions to participate in the further grounds of counseling.
