MHT CET 2027: Class 12 Marks May Get Weightage in Maharashtra Engineering Admissions
As per reports, the Maharashtra government is considering a change in the engineering admission process from the 2027-28 academic year. Under the proposed system, marks obtained by students in Class 12 may also be given weightage while preparing the merit list for engineering admissions in the state.

At present, admission to undergraduate engineering courses in Maharashtra is based on performance in the MHT CET exam or based on the JEE Mains scores. The proposed change means considering class 12th performance into the admission process. However, the policy is still under consideration and the government has not announced a final formula or percentage of weightage yet.
The proposed change will impact the students as they will have to focus on both class 12th and CET. Since the MHT CET syllabus gives more weightage to class 12th curriculum, this move will actually benefit students to ace both exams.

The Maharashtra government is looking at including Class 12 marks as one of the factors for engineering admissions from the 2027-28 academic year. Will Class 12 marks be counted for MHT CET 2027?
There is no final confirmation yet that class 12 marks will be added to the MHT CET 2027 admission score. The proposal is being considered for the 2027-28 academic year. The government or Maharashtra State CET Cell will have to announce the final admission rules before students can know how their board marks will be calculated along with their CET performance. What is the current MHT CET admission system?

With 97.5 percentile in MHT-CET, you have a strong chance to get admission in reputed colleges like PICT Pune, VIT Pune, SPIT Mumbai, or Thakur College of Engineering for branches such as IT, ECE, or Electrical. COEP and VJTI may be difficult for CSE. Government colleges like WCE Sangli, SGGS Nanded, and GCOE Amravati are also good options. You can get preferred branches in private colleges and core branches in government ones. Your chances further improve if you belong to a reserved category or have home university advantage within Maharashtra.
With 120 marks in MHT-CET (General category), you are unlikely to get top colleges/branches (like CSE/IT in COEP, VJTI) but can aim for mid-tier private/university-affiliated colleges in less competitive branches.
