'No Calculator' in JEE Mains 2026; NTA Uploads Updated Brochure for Clarification
NTA has clarified that no calculator, physical or on-screen, will be allowed in JEE Main 2026. It further states the earlier mention of a virtual calculator in the JEE Mains 2026 Information Bulletin was a printing error.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a public notice on November 2, 2026. The notice acts as a clarification on the JEE Main on-screen calculator 2026. The authorities specify that no calculator, physical or on-screen, will be allowed in the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2026.
Earlier, NTA released the JEE Main 2026 information brochure on October 31, with a mention of an on-screen calculator and accessibility mode for the candidates. The JEE Main virtual calculator 2026 was said to perform basic calculations in the Computer-Based Test (CBT). However, NTA has now clarified that this mention was a typographical error, as the feature belongs to the generic test platform and does not apply to JEE Main.
No Calculator Permitted in JEE Main 2026
According to the public notice, the use of calculators in any form is strictly prohibited in JEE Main 2026. Candidates will need to perform all calculations manually during the exam. NTA has uploaded a revised Information Bulletin for JEE Main 2026 on its official website and has advised all candidates to download and refer to the updated version for accurate details. The agency also expressed regret for the confusion caused by the earlier version and apologised for any inconvenience to the candidates.
