NTA has booked 68 candidates under the Unfair Means case (UFM), and their results have been withheld subsequently. The case will now be reviewed by an expert committee post which the final decision will be taken. These candidates can be barred from appearing in future exams upto 3 years and/or prosecuted as per law.

NTA Withholds JEE Main 2026 Result of 68 Candidates

The JEE Mains 2026 session 1 result has been announced by the NTA. However, the result for 68 candidates has not been declared due to involvement in unfair means during the exam. NTA has not disclosed the names or any other details of these candidates except that the NTA Score of 68 candidates has not been declared as they were found indulging in Unfair Means practices/ discrepancies in the identity verification etc.

As per the rules mentioned by the NTA in information brochure, if any candidate is found indulging in any activity that allows him/her to gain an unfair advantage over other candidates during the exam or before/ after the exam, they will be booked under the Unfair Means case UFM. 

"The result of JEE Main 2026 of the candidates who indulge in Unfair Means Practices will be cancelled and will not be declared. No plea will be entertained in this regard. NTA reserves the rights to take appropriate action as per the procedures & norms and punishment or punitive actions will be taken based on the nature of offence. The candidate may be debarred up to 3 years in the future and shall also be liable for criminal action and /or any other action as deemed fit" -mentioned in the NTA JEE Main 2026 information brochure.

JEE Main Result Withheld: Can Students Apply For Rechecking?

NTA has clearly mentioned that there shall be no re-evaluation/re-checking of the JEE Main result. NTA will not entertain any correspondence regarding the rechecking of results. Also, as the candidates booked under unfair means (UFM) are handled under different procedure, they can not apply for re-evaluation of results.

What’s the Way Ahead for Candidates Booked Under UFM in JEE Mains?

Candidates who are found indulged in any unfair means practice will be evaluated by a panel constituted by the NTA for their involvement and penalty thereof. If the involvement if proven, they will be punished as per the NTA rule/law. They will not be allowed to appear in the exam for 3 years and will not be able to take admission in any institutes.
