Rajya Sabha Elections: AAP fields IIT Delhi Prof; LPU Founder also among frontrunners
IIT Delhi prof Pathak is believed to be close to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi professor Sandeep Pathak is among the list of candidates from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) filing nominations for Rajya Sabha from Punjab. Pathak has been working with the AAP for a few years, and also camped in Punjab for around three years and formed an organization at the booth level, which helped the party win the elections.
Pathak along with AAP’s Punjab co-in-charge Raghav Chadha and ex-spinner Harbhajan Singh are all set to file nominations for three of the five Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant from Punjab, for which elections will be held on March 31.
Ashok Mittal, founder of Lovely Professional University (LPU) is also expected to get AAP RS nomination from Punjab.
Sandeep Pathak is currently serving at the IIT Delhi as faculty in the department of energy science and engineering and holds a PhD from Cambridge University. Pathak is believed to be close to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.
Pathak’s research is focused on the fabrication of Perovskite-based photovoltaic devices and he also has been keen on developing novel material for low cost high performing photovoltaic devices.
