TNEA 2022 Counselling Registration Starts on 20 June; Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy Announces Dates

TNEA 2022 counselling will start on June 20

TNEA 2022 counselling registration will start on June 20. Candidates will be able to register for the engineering admissions from June 20 to July 19. The rank list will be released on August 8. Online counselling will be held from August 22 to October 14. The certificate verification will be conducted from July 20  to July 31 and supplementary counselling will be held from October 15 to 16. However, there is no officially announced TNEA 2022 schedule on the official website yet. As per the reports, the dates have been announced by Tamil Nadu higher education minister K Ponmudy.

Currently, the TNEA 2022 official website which is tneaonline.org is out of service. The website reads “503 Service Temporarily Unavailable“. Although TNEA 2022 official schedule is yet to be published online, candidates can note the reported dates as the official schedule is most likely to be out soon.

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu to offer admissions to candidates in various engineering colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu. TNEA counselling 2022 is a single-window process and admissions in Tamil Nadu engineering colleges are offered through such a process because authorities believe that such an initiative facilitates transparency. TNEA rank list is used to offer admissions to candidates in undergraduate programmes like Bachelors of Engineering (BE) and Bachelors of Technology (BTech) in colleges of Tamil Nadu.

It is to be noted that TNEA written exam has been scrapped as the counselling is based on Class 12 marks and therefore seats are allotted in the colleges through the TNEA rank list. In 2021, around 440 colleges were included in TNEA and the total available seats were 151870.

What Will Be New in TNEA 2022 This Year

As per the reports, Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy has said that "Students can apply from their own schools for engineering admissions. This year, the number of Tamil Nadu engineering admissions facilitation centres (TFCs) also increased to 110 from 55 last year". Each district will have at least two TFCs to facilitate online registration.

Apart from that, the minister has also said that this year fifteen thousand students who take part in the first round of counselling will have to pay the fees within a week. This will be enforced to reduce the vacancies in the top colleges.  

TNEA 2022 Registration Starts on 20 June

Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) Tamil Nadu will release TNEA 2022 application form on the official website. To apply for TNEA 2022 admissions, candidates have to pass their qualifying examination i.e. 10+2 or intermediate and meet the eligibility requirements set by the authority.
