When is JEE Advanced 2026? Exam and registration dates announced by IIT Roorkee
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee is the organizing institute for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026. The JEE Advanced 2026 exam date, as well as registration, answer key and result schedule have been announced on the official website jeeadv.ac.in.
When is JEE Advanced 2026 exam
The IIT Roorkee will conduct JEE Advanced 2026 exam on May 17, 2026 as per the information available in the official website. The exam will be held in 221 cities of India and in two cities outside India - Abu Dhabi and Kathmandu.
JEE Advanced Registration 2026 will start on April 23. Only those candidates who obtains minimum marks in JEE Main to qualify for JEE Advanced or are placed in top 2.5 lakh in order of merit in JEE Mains can register for the JEE Adv exam.
Registrations for foreign candidates will begin in April 6. Also, foreign candidates are exempted from appearing in JEE Mains, thus the condition of minimum JEE Mains mark is also waived off for them.
What is JEE Advanced?
JEE Advanced is the exam conducted for admission in undergraduate engineering and science courses in IITs. It is a highly competitive exam, with several lakh candidates taking the test for roughly 18000 seats. The exam covers question from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects of class 11 and 12 however, the difficulty level is at par with the board exams.
There will be two papers - Paper 1 and 2 which will be held on the same day (May 17) in two shifts from 9 am to 12 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm.

IIT Roorke started JEE Advanced registration 2026 on April 23, 2026 for Indian nationals. Application form is available online on the website jeeadv.ac.in. The JEE Advanced application form 2026 for foreign nationals was released on April 6, 2026.
The last date to apply for JEE Advanced 2026 is May 2, 2026. Registered candidates can pay application fees is May 4. The official website to apply for IIT JEE Advanced is jeeadv.ac.in.
The JEE Advanced 2026 application fee details will be made available with the information brochure of JEE Advanced 2026. Last year the applicatin fee charged was as follows:
- INR 1600 for Indian and OCI/PIO female and SC/ST/PWD candidatres.
- The Indian general and OCI/PIO candidates had to pay INR 3200.
The foreign candidates had to pay:
- USD 100 for candidates from SAARC countries.
- USD 200 for candidates from non- SAARC countries.
As mentioned in the JEE Advanced 2026 information brochure, only those candidates who are in the top 2.5 lakh in the order of merit can appear in the exam. Candidates interested in IIT BTech admission thus need to secure good marks in NTA JEE. The first session of JEE Mains is already over and the JEE Main Session 2 exam date is April 2 to 9.
