Central University Of Kashmir Shifts To Online Classes; Work from Home for Teaching, Non Teaching Staff
CUK has shifted to online classes and work-from-home on Fridays and Saturdays, starting from May 22 onwards for teaching and non-teaching staff following PM Modi's speech amid the West Asia crisis.
Central University of Kashmir Tulmulla has announced a switch to online teaching and work-from-home for Fridays and designated "Green Saturdays." The Deputy Registrar has made the announcement, followed by PM Modi's address amid western asia disturbance. The decision will be effective fromMay 22, 2026. Both teaching and non-teaching staff along with students, will be a part of critical cost-saving and fuel-conservation measures.
The Dean’s Committee meeting, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor on May 13 issued directions on work from home and online classes. The CUK administration confirmed that all practical and laboratory sessions, originally scheduled for Fridays, will now be moved to Thursday afternoons.
Furthermore, the university has made it mandatory that PhD viva examinations and academic workshops shift to online formats. Offline sessions will only be allowed under exceptions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently urged educational institutions across India to temporarily adopt online teaching. The national drive aims to conserve fuel originated by the geopolitical crisis in West Asia. CUK now aims to significantly lower its carbon footprint and costs.
