Central University of Rajasthan Announces Research Promotion Scheme for PhD Scholars

Central University of Rajasthan has launched a new research promotion scheme where PhD scholars will get an additional INR 5,000 monthly stipend and a contingency grant. Read further to know about the research scheme and who will get benefit here. 

Central University of Rajasthan has initiated a new research promotion scheme for scholars. The aims to provide financial assistance to researchers. It will help them focus on quality work without any financial stress. All CURAJ PhD students admitted from 2025 academic session onwards can get these benefits.

Under this new reserch promotion scheme, scholars will get extra financial support of INR 5,000 every month. This financial assistance will be in addition to the regular UGC non-NET fellowship. Meanwhile, scholars will also get an extra contingency grant of INR 10,000 to cover their research expenses.

CURAJ Vice-Chancellor Anand Bhalerao announced this initiative on Saturday, May 24, 2026. He stated that current non-NET fellowship amount is at times not enough for daily and academic needs. Prof. Bhalerao aims that this new step will attract bright students to focus on research. It will also build a strong culture of innovation at the university.

At present, research scholars receive the standard non-NET fellowship of INR 8,000 per month. Eligible scholars will start getting the extra INR 5,000 from their second semester onwards. From the third semester, students have to pass an annual progress review to keep getting the financial assistance. These reviews will happen at the start of the second, third, and fourth years of the PhD programme.
