Each university to prepare strategy paper to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat: Dharmendra Pradhan

Education Minister said that Government aims to raise GER in Higher Education to 50% by 2035
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has urged all universities across the country to prepare a strategy paper aligned with the national vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He emphasised that these academic institutions must play a pivotal role in translating the aspirations of a developed India into action.
Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day national conference of vice-chancellors and directors of higher education institutions, Pradhan said, βEvery university should formulate a concrete roadmap contributing towards Viksit Bharat. This strategy paper should outline how the institution will empower youth, enhance innovation, and support national development goals.β
He said the government is committed to fostering knowledge-based growth, and universities need to evolve into hubs of solution-oriented research and societal transformation.
Underscoring the role of universities in skilling, re-skilling, and up-skilling Indiaβs youth, the minister added that higher education institutions must align their academic practices with the goals outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The minister also interacted with vice-chancellors and higher education leaders, encouraging them to make students key stakeholders in the developmental journey. βIndia is moving towards becoming the third-largest economy. This is the right time for our universities to become epicentres of purpose-driven knowledge creation,β he said.
The conference is being attended by over 500 vice-chancellors and heads of institutions from across the country.
