Gauhati University Launches 5-Year Integrated BSc, MSc Data Analytics Programme; Details Inside

Gauhati University has introduced a five-year integrated BSc-MSc programme in Data Analytics under NEP 2020. The programme is suitable for students willing to have a career in AI, vast data, and machine learning skills.

Gauhati University has launched a new five-year integrated B.Sc and M.Sc. programme in Data Analytics. The programme will begin from the 2026–27 academic session. The university’s Department of Statistics has developed the programme. This programme's curriculum is designed under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework. The main objective of the Gauhati University integrated BSc MSc course is to prepare students for a career in artificial intelligence, data science and machine learning.

According to Gauhati University, the programme mixes core principles of Statistics, Mathematics, and Computer Programming. The university aims to equip students with analytical and technical skills required in companies at present. The structure of Gauhati University BSc MSc course will provide a B.Sc. (Honours) degree in Data Analytics for students who choose to exit after completing four years. Final fifth year students will graduate with a full integrated M.Sc. degree.  Students can exit with a certificate (1 year), diploma (2 years), B.Sc. Degree (3 years), or an Honours/Research B.Sc. Degree (4 years). 

As data analytics and AI are the need of the hour, data science shapes fields like business management, corporate finance, medical healthcare, professional sports, digital media, and government public policy. However, only eligible students will be able to appear for the programme as the authorities will cancel the applications of ineligible students.
