IACS Kolkata PhD Registration Begins for August 2025 Intake; Apply Now!

Eligible candidates have to pay INR 1200 (INR 600 for SC/ ST candidates) in online mode as an application fee before the deadline in order to apply for PhD programme at IACS Kolkata. 

The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) has started the admission process for the full-time PhD programme for the academic session 2025-26. The academic session is scheduled to begin in August 2025. The autumn semester PhD programme is being offered through various schools of the association, namely Schools of Applied and Interdisciplinary Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Material Sciences, Mathematical and Computational Sciences and Physical Sciences.

However, before filling the application form, students are suggested to go through the eligibility criteria of their desired programme. As per the eligibility criteria, the applicant must be an Indian citizen and have a Master's degree with a 55% or equivalent (50% for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently abled). The minimum eligibility criterion will be determined by UGC guidelines. The applicant further shall be less than 28 years old on the date of the closing date of the registration process. 

Regular full-time students will be selected based on their academic record, performance on a relevant national level examination, and performance in a written test and/or interview as determined by the respective schools.  Applicants will be shortlisted based on merit and eligibility criteria by individual schools. 

Students can fill the online application form by April 14, 2025. Interested students have to pay INR 1200 (INR 600 in case of SC/ ST students) in online mode in order to complete the registration process. 

All regular PhD students who join the programme will be eligible for scholarships from IACS/CSIR/UGC/INSPIRE/ other funding agencies.
