TISS Mumbai Latest News

Students at Tata Institute of Social Sciences are protesting, demanding clarity on the admission process. The students are demanding that the interview session, which is an integral part of the admission process, not be removed.

TISS Mumbai's numerous student unions issued a unified statement criticizing the institute's revised admission process for its postgraduate programs. In the past, entrance to the in-house TISS-NET required personal interviews. However, after the institute affiliated itself with CUET-PG, a centralized national entrance examination, several changes are being implemented. The admission schedule on the official website discloses little about how candidates will be evaluated. Students reported that the CUET-PG brochure has yet to be issued.

One of the student shared that the inefficiency from the administration has raised serious concerns among students and the student community. The change in the admission process started last year when TISS NET was replaced by CUET PG for admission to postgraduate courses at TISS Mumbai. Due to which, several students raised concerns that the interview weightage was very much required to judge students at par.

The students expressed worry about the lack of any reference of the Online Assessment procedure in the admission schedule provided on the TISS website, prompting concerns that the interview component may be eliminated. They also noted that the admission handbook for the Common University Entrance Test for Postgraduate Programmes (CUET-PG) has yet to be published at the unviersity's website.
