JNU Admissions 2022 to be conducted through Common Universities Entrance Test

JNU will hold the entrance examination through the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) for admission into various academic programmes for 2022-23.

JNU Admissions 2022: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)  has announced that it will now conduct the JNU Admissions for 2022 in a new way. Like Delhi University, JNU will conduct the admissions through Common Universities Entrance Test (CUCET) from the upcoming academic year 2022-23.  

Jawaharlal Nehru University in its 159^th Academic Council meeting held today; i.e. January 12, 2022, overwhelmingly endorsed its earlier decision to hold the entrance examination through the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) for admission into various academic programmes for 2022-23. The decision of the Academic Council is in conformity with its earlier decision taken in 157^th meeting of the Academic Council held on March 22, 2021 to adopt and admit students through CUET whenever the examination would be planned by National Testing Agency (NTA).

It must be noted that since 2019 JNU has been successfully conducting JNU Entrance Examination (JNUEE) at various centers of the country to admit students in its various programmes of studies in collaboration with NTA in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

During the deliberations in the Academic Council, a large number of members including the Deans of Schools, Centre Chairpersons, and External Members of the council emphasized that CUET will provide a level playing field to numerous eligibile students from across the country reducing the burden of taking several entrance examinations. The misinformation spread by a few faculty members about CUET was noted by the Academic Council and was deplored.
As of now, the details on the process and the execution of CUCET/CUET in JNU are not known. However, the University is expected to announce the details soon, possibly with DU.
