Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the 25th National Youth Festival in Puducherry. The event was inaugurated by the Prime Minister via video conferencing. Swami Vivekananda's birth anniversary is observed as National Youth Day. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the country, the event was virtually organised and will continue until January 13, 2022.
The event began with the address from the Union Minister Anurag Thakur, followed by the address by Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangaswamy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a Technology Centre of the MSME Ministry in Puducherry. This technology centre will contribute towards skilling youth and will be able to train around 6,400 trainees per year. Along with this, PM Narendra Modi also inaugrated the 'Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Manimandapam' auditorium constructed by the Puducherry government. This auditorium is equipped with open air theatre and would be primarily used for educational purposes, and can accommodate more than 1,000 people.

The Prime Minister further talked about India's youth and said from connecting with roots to global expansion, India's youth has participated in all grounds and has become a crucial part of global prospertiy. He also highlighed the importance of youth for India and remembered the remarkable youth icons of the country. PM Modi urged to adhere to the 'Vocal for Local' mission as this will help in providing employment and will uplift the country's economy.
Prime Minister Modi also wished the country for upcoming festivals like Lohri, Khichdi, Pongal, and others and requested peopel to follow the COVID protcols and stay safe while celebrating the festivals.
