KEA to Issue Seat Confirmation Slips Instead of Admission Orders to Avoid Seat Blocking

Students appearing for the KEA counselling process have to obtain a seat confirmation slip and visit the respective allotted college and get their details ratified through facial recognition.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has planned to issue seat confirmation slips instead of admission orders to avoid seat blockage and other issues. Hence, students who have secured seats for courses offered through KEA counselling this year will receive seat confirmation slips rather than admission orders.
The authorities have notified that all admission processes, including Common Entrance Test (CET) counselling, will be conducted using facial recognition technology. Students who have received seat confirmation slips have to go to the college and have their photo and other information verified using face recognition technique. Following that, students' admission orders will be downloaded, and the college's admissions procedure will be completed.
Under this new system, once the student pays the prescribed fee the seat confirmation slip will be generated to avoid seat blocking. This further ensure that the counselling process is streamlined for admission to the professional courses offered through KEA counselling.
The decision is in response to concerns that many students would get admission orders but not enrol or pay fees without completing the confirmation process, resulting in confusion and vacant seats. This initiative aims to ensure that only individuals who actually want to take a course complete the application procedure, preventing seats from being left unfilled.
During the previous counselling sessions, thousands of seats have been left vacant as many students download admission orders without joining or paying the fees to block the seat. Last year, 14,500 students in round 1 and 5,500 in round 2 did not confirm their decision of accepting or rejecting the allotted seats.
