Poll survey reveals that MA English is the most popular postgraduate course at Presidency University. It’s closely followed by MSc Life Sciences. Learn more below.

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) is to conduct PUMDET 2025 on July 27, 2025. PUMDET is conducted annually for admissions to the postgraduate programmes at Presidency University. In a poll survey conducted on our website, it was observed that most Presidency University aspiring students wish to take admission to the MA English programme. A total of 39% of all poll participants chose the MA English programme when asked which programme they wished to take PUMDET for. PUMDET 2025 Application Form Status

As mentioned on the official WBJEEB portal for PUMDET - wbjeeb.nic.in/pumdet/, the application dates for PUMDET 2025 will be announced shortly. It is expected that the PUMDET 2025 application form will be available in the first week of May 2025. Aspirants can expect the application form anytime now. Once the PUMDET applications open, aspirants can follow the steps mentioned below to fill out the form -

  • Visit wbjeeb.nic.in/pumdet/
  • Click on the PUMDET 2025 application form link under the ‘Candidate Activity Board’ section. 
  • Register by providing personal details, contact details and creating a password. 
  • Now log in again and go on to fill the application form. 
  • Pay the application fee using a debit card, a credit card, or UPI. 

What to Expect if You Take PUMDET for MA English and MSc Life Sciences?

Students who have applied for these two courses will take the test for these respective subjects. Their syllabus is mentioned below. 

English - Undergraduate-level English (Major/ Honours) syllabus of Presidency University or its equivalent of any recognised Indian University. 

Life Science - Common topics of the BSc (Major/ Honours) level in various divisions of Life Science (Zoology, Botany, Biochemistry, etc.).  

All the examinees will have to attempt 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Each question will hold 2 marks, each incorrect answer will get examinees -0.5 marks, and students will be given 90 minutes to take the entire test.

Q:   Is PUMDET a computer based test?
A:

No, PUMDET is conducted offline. The test contains objective-type questions or MCQs. Examinees are provided with OMR sheets to mark their answers.

Q:   What is the preparation strategy for PUMDET exam?
A:

A postgraduate course level is higher than what one would have studied at graduation and the preparation has to be much more. If you have done your BA in Political Science and want to do your MA in Political Science, the student will have to cover all the major topics and subjects learnt in the three-year undergrad course and learn the subjects taught in postgraduate as well.
