Mumbai University PhD Application Form 2026 

Mumbai University PhD Admission 2026: University of Mumbai, has invited applications for admission to its PhD Programme in English for academic session 2026. Mumbai University PhD admissions will be conducted in accordance with PhD Regulations 2025. Candidates have to fill out Mumbai University PhD admission form in offline mode. MU PhD admission application form must reach department on or before June 15, 2026.

Applications will be accepted during office hours from 11 am to 1 pm and 2 to 5 pm on working days, excluding second and fourth Saturdays and public holidays.  List of eligible candidates and interview schedule will be displayed on official University of Mumbai website and Department Notice Board after application concludes.

Mumbai University PhD Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for this programme must have MA in English or English Studies from a UGC recognised university with at least 55% marks or an equivalent. A relaxation of 5% marks will be provided to candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Differently Abled, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and other categories as per UGC norms.

Applications should be submitted to the Head, Department of English, University of Mumbai, Ranade Bhavan, Vidyanagari, Kalina, Santacruz East, Mumbai 400098. Applicants must also have qualified NET, SET, or MPhil in English. Candidates possessing foreign qualifications recognised by UGC or other competent authorities in India as equivalent to a Master's degree will also be eligible to apply.

Interested candidates must download, print and fill out prescribed application form and submit it to Department of English along with required documents. Applicants are also required to submit a Demand Draft of INR 100 drawn in favour of The Finance and Accounts Officer, University of Mumbai. Applications sent through post or courier must also reach the department by deadline.
