The fake timetable in question listed the following schedule for BLS/LL.B. Semester IX Summer 2025 exams

The University of Mumbai has issued a critical alert to its students regarding a fake examination timetable for the BLS/LL.B. (Five-Year Course) Semester IX, which has been circulating on social media and other platforms. The university has clarified that the previously shared schedule, dated April 8, 2025, and signed by Dr. Pooja Raundale, Director of the Board of Examinations & Evaluation, is not authentic. Students are strongly advised to disregard this fraudulent timetable and rely solely on the official website, http://mu.ac.in, for verified examination updates.

The university's warning came through an official statement posted on X on April 9, 2025, which read: " ATTENTION STUDENTS!   Beware of misinformation! A fake exam timetable is circulating. Ignore it! Always check http://mu.ac.in for official updates."

The fake timetable in question listed the following schedule for BLS/LL.B. Semester IX Summer 2025 exams:

Monday, April 28, 2025: Alternative Dispute Resolution

Friday, May 2, 2025: Law of Evidence

Thursday, May 8, 2025: Conflict of Laws

Monday, May 12, 2025: Law and Medicine

Saturday, May 17, 2025: Law of Insurance

Monday, May 19, 2025: Intellectual Property Law

Wednesday, May 21, 2025: Banking Laws & Negotiable Instruments Act

Friday, May 30, 2025: Law Relating to Women & Children

However, the University of Mumbai has confirmed that this schedule is not legitimate, and no official timetable for BLS/LL.B. Semester IX Summer 2025 has been released as of April 10, 2025. The university has urged students to avoid planning their preparations based on this misinformation and to regularly check the official website for the authentic examination schedule.

This incident is not an isolated one for the University of Mumbai. In 2023, the university faced a similar issue when fake circulars about exam postponements due to heavy rainfall spread across social media, causing widespread confusion among students. At the time, the university had to issue clarifications through its official channels and local news outlets, as reported by The Times of India in July 2023. Such recurring incidents highlight the growing challenge of misinformation in the education sector, particularly during critical examination periods.

The university has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a smooth and fair examination process, with officials working to release the official Summer 2025 timetables soon.

In the meantime, students preparing for the BLS/LL.B. Semester IX exams are advised to stay vigilant and refer only to http://mu.ac.in for updates. The university has also encouraged students to report any suspicious information to the examination department to help curb the spread of misinformation.
