Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University

Online registration is now mandatory for all the students seeking admission in Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra. The varsity has announced this measure to prevent irregularities in admission process of private colleges.

The university has decided that every student seeking admission to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University will have to first register themselves on the official website. The rule will be implemented from the upcoming session of 2017-2018. Registrations for 2017-2018 session is set to begin from July 1, 2017.

The candidates will have to register themselves on the official BRAU website by furnishing basic details like proof of education, address proof, Aadhar number etc.

β€œFrom this session, each student will be assigned a registration number which will remain same throughout his/her course tenure. For this, a student will have to apply on the university website. This will help the administration in maintaining a first-hand record of all students. All admissions made by colleges without this number will be considered invalid and the students will not be allowed to sit for exams,” university public relations officer GS Sharma was quoted as saying by a national daily.

The varsity decided upon making online registration mandatory to curb the malpractice of allowing admissions mere few days before final exams. Over 900 private colleges are affiliated to BRAU and admission a few days before the exam is a common practice among many.

Many students from various states seek admission to BSc (agriculture), BA, Law, Bachelor of Physical Education, MSc and MEd courses through illegal means. To prevent this, the university has decided to conduct entrance exams for these courses, as well.

The University Students Association has supported both the decisions and feel that the measures will wipe out this malpractice.
