Teachers Associations to shut down Delhi University today; Boycott Online classes
DUTA has called for a strike against Delhi Government for not releasing funds to 12 DU Colleges
The Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) has announced to completely shut down DU and its colleges and strike today. The strike has been called against Delhi Government for not releasing full Grants to 12 DU Colleges funded by the Government of NCT, Delhi.
As per the DUTA due to the fund crunch, these colleges have turned into financially sick institutions with deficits running from Rs 6 crores to Rs 30 crores in different colleges till date.
DUTA President Prof A K Bhagi and the Executive Committee on the issue of fund cut resulting in non-payment of salaries and other allowances of 12 DU Colleges fully funded by Delhi Government discussed the adversities and challenges faced the employees of these colleges.
DUTA executive expressed their resentment and outrage against the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Dy CM of Delhi Government against the fund cut that is in the range from Rs 6 crores to Rs 30 crores in different colleges.
On this basis, DUTA executives also ridiculed the tall claims made by the Delhi Government about the Delhi government's model of Education whereas the staff is not getting their due salaries for 2 to 6 months, allowances, reimbursement of medical bills, Children Education Allowances, LTC, Arrears of 7 CPC and the summer salaries of ad-hoc teachers in these colleges.
The fund cut imposed by the Government of NCT of Delhi has caused immense hardship to teachers and employees of these colleges. βThere is irregular and incomplete disbursement of grants and funds by Delhi Government, which is totally unacceptable to DUTA,β DUTA alleged in a statement.
The teachers association has also alleged that the Delhi University Administration has approved the Governing Bodies (GB) of all the Delhi Government funded and maintained colleges through the Executive Council without ascertaining and verifying the facts that the trust (Delhi Government) of these colleges has failed to meet the requirement of releasing full funds to these colleges.
βThe Delhi University administration and Executive Council have acted in haste by approving the names to these GBs as the credentials of the members have also not been verified with regard to eligibility and the possible contribution of these members in the growth of these institutions.
The DUTA office bearers also wrote to Chief Minister and Honβble LG to meet them and amicably resolve the matter but there is no satisfactory reply from these offices till date,β DUTA claimed in a statement.
DUTA Executives unanimously decided to completely shut down DU and its colleges today and hold a public hearing tomorrow January, 07. It has also decided to invite representatives of different political parties, eminent personalities and the media person. The teaching and non-teaching staff of these colleges will share their grievances and hardship being faced by them due to fund cuts and non-releasing of grants resulting in non-payment of salaries.
Further, it was decided that the DUTA shall also approach Delhi University Principal Association (DUPA) and Delhi University and College Karamchari Union (DUCKU) in this regard.
Also, a Coordination Committee comprising of DUTA office bearers and five senior activists of DUTA has been constituted that shall coordinate the action programme and decide the future course of Action Programme if full funds are not released by Delhi Government.
DUTA has made an appeal to all Staff Associations and teachers of DU colleges to observe the Action Programmes passed by the DUTA Executive. DUTA appeals to the teachers to remain away from all official duties and boycott online teaching on the day of the strike.
