Tezpur University Partners with Hyundai Motor for Research in EV and Battery

Tezpur University has signed an MoU with Hyundai Motor Company for around 16.37 crore investment for EV and battery research. The collaboration aims to offer expertise in areas of Electric Vehicles, Battery technology, Battery Management Systems, Energy storage and safety, and electrification and sustainable mobility. 

Tezpur University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Company. The university has collaborated under the Hyundai Centre of Excellence (HCoE). This partnership makes Tezpur University the first central university to secure a research partnership with an aim to enhance EV and battery research.

The Hyundai Centre of Excellence will be an innovation platform that connects Hyundai with Indian academic institutions for future mobility solutions. This joint research will focus on next-generation technologies, specifically in Electric Vehicles (EVs), battery management systems (BMS), energy storage, and sustainable mobility.

Under the collaboration, Hyundai Motor Company plans to invest approximately INR 16.37 crore into Tezpur University’s research department. This funding is of great advancement for Tezpur University with a leading global automobile manufacturer. The research with practical industry expertise will help the university to go deep into its current research environment. The partnership aims to solve real-world challenges in EV efficiency and safety. It further builds a direct relation for talent, preparing Indian students to lead shift toward sustainable transportation.
