UGC extends last date for ODL and Online admissions (July–Aug 2025 session) to October 15. Students must check recognition on UGC-DEB portal. By regulating timelines and mandating recognition checks, UGC aims to safeguard the credibility of online and distance learning programmes in India.

UGC has extended the last date for ODL and Online admissions (July–Aug 2025 session) to October 15. Students have been advised to check recognition on UGC-DEB portal.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has extended the last date of admission for the July–August 2025 academic session for courses offered through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online mode to October.

According to the latest notification, the deadline for admissions has been extended from September 15, 2025, to October 15, 2025. “Based on various representations received from HEIs, UGC has decided to extend the last date to admit learners in ODL/Online Programmes for academic session July–August, 2025, from 15th September 2025 to 15th October 2025,” the notice stated.

UGC Advisory for Students

The UGC has advised students to verify the recognition and entitlement status of ODL and Online programmes, along with the institutions offering them, through the official UGC-DEB portal before taking admission. This step, officials said, is crucial to ensure students do not fall prey to unrecognised institutions or invalid programmes.

Guidelines for Institutions

The Commission has directed all recognised Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) offering ODL and Online programmes to strictly adhere to the revised timeline. HEIs must also ensure compliance with UGC’s regulations and quality standards while admitting learners. “Students are advised to verify the ODL/Online recognition status of the programmes and the HEI on the UGC-DEB portal before taking admission,” the public notice further added.
