BJP intensifies pressure over delayed WBJEE 2025 results as Calcutta High Court orders fresh merit list by August 22. SC/ST/OBC candidates must upload caste certificates by August 21.

The West Bengal JEE (WBJEE) 2025 results announcement remain pending as the Calcutta High Court has ordered the board to issue a fresh merit list by August 22, following compliance issues with OBC reservation rules. The BJP has escalated political pressure, warning of statewide agitational protests if the results are not published promptly.

The delay stems from a judicial intervention by Justice Kausik Chanda, who found the initial merit list unconstitutional as it ignored a May 21 order enforcing a 7% reservation for 66 OBC classes recognized before 2010. He mandated that the WBJEE Board revise the list within 15 days and submit affidavits of compliance by both the board’s registrar and a senior higher-education official.

As a result, SC, ST, and OBC candidates have been instructed to upload their caste certificates via the WBJEEB portal by August 21 at 11:59 PM in order to be included in the revised merit list.

Reacting to the prolonged uncertainty, the BJP has issued an ultimatum, threatening mass protests if the results are not declared soon. In parallel, the ABVP (students’ body aligned with RSS) demonstrated outside Bikash Bhawan, the state education headquarters, resulting in several detentions.

Students are growing impatient with some of them exploring alternatives in other states or private institutions amid the delay.
