IIT Bhubaneswar Admissions 2020: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar conducted the orientation programme for newly admitted students of the undergraduate and dual degree programmes on November 18 and 19, 2020. According to an official statement released by the institute, IIT Bhubaneswar conducted the orientation programme online considering the ongoing pandemic situation. While speaking on the occasion, the director of one of the premier institutes, R.V. Raja Kumar said, “In view of the ongoing pandemic, we have decided to start the first year UG classes after holding orientation programme for the newcomers on the virtual mode.”

This year, 475 students got admission to IIT Bhubaneswar’s six BTech and nine dual-degree programmes (BTech–MTech). According to the reports, IIT Bhubaneswar also increased the number of seats from 419 to 475 this year. “Seats have been increased by 18 percent across IITs,” added Raja Kumar. The reports also suggest that IIT Bhubaneswar will conduct the autumn semester classes of 2020-21, by live streaming of classes as per the time table from Nov 19, 2020. The students will be brought to the campus and education will continue in the normal mode when the situation becomes conducive, the statement read.

Speaking further about maintaining learning by students at a proper pace avoiding associated stresses, Mr Raja Kumar added, “education for the first year Btech will be imparted in full with no shortening of lectures and no cramping of time." The fresh students will be completing their first year by mid-July and continue their education online.
