Jammu & Kashmir Schools, Colleges Shut: Jammu and Kashmir administrations on September 19 declared a holiday on September 23, 2022. The holiday has been announced to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh. In the account of this, all educational institutions and government offices will remain closed for the day. September 23 will be observed as a holiday every year under the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 (Central Act 26 of 1881).
The official notification issued by the Jammu and Kashmir administration informed, "To commemorate the birth anniversary of "Maharaja Hari Singh Ji", 23 of September of every year shall be observed as holiday in Government offices and educational institutions across the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir under Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 (Central Act 26 of 1881)."

The Lieutenant Governor released the order regarding the declaration of holiday. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced a tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh and announced a holiday for September 23, 2022. He stated that official notification will be released shortly. The communique was released yesterday, September 19, 2022. The holiday is declared as a tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh's services.
The educational institutions and government offices will remain shut across the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Students and concerned employees may please take note of it. However, they will be intimated by the respective officials via official notification.
