The top court of the country has today rejected the plea moved by the deceased's father to stay the re-postmortem ordered by the Madras high court.
The Supreme Court has rejected the plea moved by the father of a Class XII student who committed suicide on July 12 after allegedly being tortured by two of her teachers. The girl's suicide was followed by extreme violence in Kallakurichi by protestors.
The father through his plea sought to stay the re-postmortem ordered by Madras High Court. The Supreme Court has refused to grant an interim stay on Madras HC order but the court has agreed to hear the plea by the victim's parents seeking an urgent hearing of the petition to include a medical expert of their choice in the team which will conduct the second autopsy, as reported by TOI.
CB-CID probe going on in the case
After the case got transferred to the CB-CID, the police arrested five people including two school teachers of the Sakthi International School who were on Tuesday remanded in prison after being produced before the court in Kallakurichi. The school girl had left a suicide note which had the names of the two teachers who were teaching Mathematics and Chemistry to her.
In total, 320 people have been held so far and they are being questioned for the acts of violence on July 17.
Madras HC ordered re-postmortem
On Monday, the Madras High Court ordered a re-postmortem of a Class XII girl who was found dead in a private school in Kallakurichi. The court also directed the state government to establish a special team to investigate the incident and to identify and arrest those responsible for July 17 violence in which the school was ransacked.
