So far, annual school examinations in the Kashmir Valley division were held in October-November that allowed children to stay at home during the harsh and bone-chilling winters.
Annual school examinations in Kashmir are likely to be shifted to March rather than in October-November, a senior official of Jammu and Kashmir’s education department said as per HT. The proposal to shift the annual examinations has been submitted by the department, according to Director School Education Kashmir Tasaduq Hussain Mir.
JKBOSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams in March for both Kashmir and Jammu divisions
Earlier, the government had announced in August that this year that the JKBOSE class 10 and 12 board examinations conducted by the Board of School Education (JKBOSE) in Kashmir will be conducted along with the Jammu division in March instead of October-November in the past. The decision to shift the dates were taken to have a “uniform academic calendar” in sync with “rest of the country”.
It is likely that all classes will have annual exams in March, Tasaduq Hussain Mir said a government decision on the proposal was expected in a few days.
So far, annual school examinations in the Kashmir Valley division were held in October-November that allowed children to stay at home during the harsh and bone-chilling winters. The exams in Jammu are held in March, just before the hot and humid summers there.
Mir said that they are hoping to keep schools open till the end of December in Kashmir valley if the weather permits.
“Winter vacation will depend on weather conditions. If weather conditions permit and temperatures don’t go below zero, we will continue up to December end,” he said.
Schools are now focusing on bridging the huge academic gap spotted by teachers due to the two years of Covid. According to the officials, schools are doing remedial teaching. 80% of the gap has been filled and 20% is still pending.
