High Court directs NLU, Sonepat to address students grievances

Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the NLU, Sonepat to address students' grievances related to fee payment of unutilised facilities during Covid-19 induced closure.

The students of Dr BR Ambedkar National Law University (DBRANLU), Sonepat had approached the court challenging the requirement of fee payment for unutilised facilities including hostel and mess fees when the university was closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the university to address grievances raised by its students regarding the payment of fees during University closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as reported by Bar and Bench.

Recently, in a similar case, Patna High Court had also ruled the demand of Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) for facilities fees and examination fees payment for the academic year 2020-21 saying that it is arbitrary and illegal if the students had not attended classes and not used these facilities during closure due to Covid 19, as reported by Live Law.

DBRANLU was established as the 23rd National Law University in India. It offers courses - Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Legislative Law (BA-LLB) (Hons) and PG Diploma in Corporate Law.
