The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) has invited papers for the 'International Conference on Chanakya’s Philosophy and its Relevance to the 21st Century.

NLSIU, Bengaluru, to organise International Conference on Chanakya’s Philosophy

National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, is organising an international conference on Chanakya's philosophy and its relevance in the 21st Century. The university has invited papers for the same and the first abstract submission deadline for submitting papers is April 10, 2022.

NLSIU is organising this conference in alliance with Chanakya University, Bengaluru; Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bengaluru; Dr B R Ambedkar School of Economics University, Bengaluru; India Knowledge Systems Division, Ministry of Education, Government of India; and Central Sanskrit University, Delhi.

Broad themes and sessions

Following are the broad themes and sessions:

  • Good governance, effective leadership and stakeholder groups
  • Society, community organisation and decentralisation
  • Welfare economics
  • Sustainable development and management of natural resources
  • Rule of law, legal institutions and society

The authors are requested to read books and papers on Chanakya’s Arthshastra, his life and related aspects, before submitting the abstract. The paper should be based on a critical analysis of Chanakya’s writings and their relevance to the 21st century. 

Each paper should clearly focus on historical, functional and futuristic perspectives, says the notification. The maximum number of papers that can be accepted is 30 including all themes and a research paper size of around 8,000 words. The full manuscript will undergo a double-blind review process and plagiarism check.

The revised abstract submission deadline (1500 words) is June 10, 2022, and the full paper submission deadline is November 10, 2022.
