NLSIU Introduces BA (Hons) Degree

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, has announced the introduction of a new Bachelor of Arts (Honours) programme, which is set to commence in the academic year 2025-26. The new B.A. (Honours) degree builds upon the foundation of NLSIU's successful Bachelor of Arts and Law (Honours) programme, which has been continuously delivered for over 35 years, and integrates the same rigorous curriculum and experiential learning approach that has become synonymous with the institution’s reputation.

The new programme offers the option of an additional fourth year, with classes for the first cohort set to begin on July 1, 2025. Applicants who have completed their higher secondary education (10+2 or an equivalent qualification) from any recognised board or educational institution are eligible to apply for the programme.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Programme

The new programme is part of NLSIU's broader offering of non-legal courses, including the Master's Programme in Public Policy, a two-year interdisciplinary course that explores the intersection of policy, social sciences, and law. The university is also a pioneer in the five-year BA LLB (Hons) programme, which combines legal and non-legal studies. The curriculum for these programmes includes subjects such as history, political science, sociology, economics, and more, ensuring a well-rounded, multidisciplinary education.

The NLS BA programme has been developed by globally qualified, multidisciplinary faculty, who have crafted innovative approaches to the social sciences and humanities. These new methods foster a deeper ethical understanding of ourselves in today’s evolving social and political landscape while addressing the changing demands of the workforce in an increasingly technology-driven world. Parents and students can register and apply for the programme later this December.
