BA LLB (Hons) or Bachelor of Legislative Law (Hons) is an undergraduate degree, which focuses on integrating knowledge regarding law and other subjects to the candidates. Students are also introduced to law case studies, which will help them practice for their career in the law field.  It is a comprehensive course which prepares candidates for the knowledge in the field of Arts as well as Law. In this course, candidates can specialise in a particular subject in which they are offered Honours. Such honours degree determine on the specialisations offered by the respective colleges. 

It depends on the candidate's educational background and plans. BA LLB is an integrated course of five years, where students study both LLB and Arts subjects. However, LLB is a three-year course, which is solely around the study of law. Moreover, BA LLB is popular among Class 12 pass wanting to pursue a career in the field of Law. The placement opportunities are also more attractive in NLUs and other private colleges. 

Thus, it cannot be really said which is course is better. However, BA LLB is slightly more popular.

For BA LLB Hons admissions, the students will have to attempt the respective entrance examination of the institute if they wish to apply for admissions. Many government colleges give admission on merit-basis but the top colleges such as National Law Universities, Jindal Global Law School provide admission solely on the basis of marks scored in entrance examinations. But many government colleges conduct their own entrance examinations only after the declaration of the results of Class 12. They invite applications from candidates and merit list is released on the basis of marks scored in Class 12. Therefore, candidates can prepare for Law entrance examinations during their senior secondary classes in order to secure admission in good colleges.

Yes. Students of any stream can apply for BA LLB Hons provided that they meet the basic eligibility criteria. Candidates should clear Class 12 in any stream from a recognised school, with minimum 45-50 percent aggregate marks. There is no age bar to pursue the course. Also, if a candidate aspires to pursue law from NLUs, she has to pass CLAT UG entrance examination. Since CLAT UG or any other law entrance examination for 5 year LLB course require candidates to complete Class 12 from any discipline, Science students can also pursue this course. Moreover, candidates who pursue BA LLB Hons are introduced to the basic concepts of History, Sociology and Political Science.

Yes. CLAT is required for BA LLB Hons admissions in top colleges. The national-level Common Law Admission Test or CLAT is taken at the national level by the Consortium of NLUs for admission in the under-graduate 5 year integrated B.A. LLB (UG) and post-graduate one year Master of Law (LLM) courses in 24 NLUs. Presently the UG courses are available in all the 24 N LUs and the PG courses are available in 21 N LUs.

The All India Bar Examination AIBE is to examine an advocate's capability to practice the profession of law in India. The AIBE will assess skills at a basic level, and is intended to set a minimum benchmark for admission to the practice of law, it addresses a candidates analytical abilities and understanding basic knowledge of law. After passing the examination candidate will be awarded "Certificate of Practice" by the Bar Council of India. AIBE will be conducted in 40 cities all across India.  Candidates will have 11 languages to choose for attempting the examination. However, the average salary falls between INR 3 to 6 Lakhs per annum. Lecturers earn average salary between INR 6-8 Lacs per annum whereas Legal Advisors earn INR 5-7 Lacs per annum. The package depends on the location of the firms, with Noida, Gurgaon, Hyderabad and Bangalore providing competitive salaries. It also depends on the experience and area of specialisation of the professional.

The average BBA LLB Hons salary in India is between INR 2 LPA to INR 7 LPA. It varies because of the factors such as experience, specialization, etc. The salary for graduates depends on the institute from where the candidate pursued their course, the placement opportunities and the experience of the candidates. Since majority of law firms and LPOs are located in metro cities, the salary package offered in Noida, Gurgaon, Bangalore and Pune is around INR 4.5-9 LPA in comparison to other cities.

The raw score is converted to a Law School Admission Test India scaled score that ranges from 420 to 480, with 420 being the lowest possible score and 480 as the highest possible score.
